Barrackpore shootout: Three youth arrested by police

Kolkata: Three youths have been arrested by the police on Thursday in connection with the shootout of Barrackpore that had taken place on Wednesday.

On Wednesday around 2:45 pm, residents of Pipe Road near Barrackpore Chiria More heard a gunshot from inside an abandoned electricity supply office. After a while, people saw a youth identified as Md. Imdad coming out of the abandoned office with bullet injuries on his chest. Immediately he was rushed to the BN Bose Subdivisional Hospital. After a while, he was shifted to a private hospital in Kolkata for better treatment. Meanwhile, police rushed to the spot and started a probe. Senior police officers of the Barrackpore Commissionerate also went to the spot.During the probe, police were told by Imdad that three other youths identified as Sheikh Kausar alias Aryan, Kuldeep Das alias Chua and Dipak Balmiki had attacked him.

The Additional Deputy Commissioner of Barrackpore Commissionerate Central Division, Indra Badan Jha said: “We have arrested the trio from Sodepur auto stand. As per the statement of the accused persons, they had a personal grudge which developed recently. Earlier Imdad and accused persons used to be friends. However, the claims by the accused persons are yet to be verified.”
