Balurghat Municipality to launch advertisement zone

BALURGHAT: Balurghat Municipality is going to launch advertisement zones in areas of the city. The work has already commenced.

The Balurghat Municipality authorities are hopeful that this work will be completed within a month. “Such an initiative has been taken by the Balurghat Municipality to increase the income of the civic body. If the advertising zone is introduced, the municipality’s income will increase and at the same time, this effort will make the city look better as we will get rid of hoardings put up randomly. Hoardings cannot be placed everywhere,” said the official.

This advertising zone will start from Tank More, the city entrance. About 20 such advertising zones are being created across the city. Advertising zones are being created in two parts-Gate and Monopole.

“The advertising zone that is being created across the road is called Gate and the advertising zone that is being created by the use of a pole on one side of the road is called Monopole. The work of creating this advertisement zone has already started in Hili More area of Balurghat city. These advertisement zones will be created in different parts of the city in the next few days,” stated the official.

“A professional advertisement agency has been selected for this task. Advertisers will contact the agency. That agency will give about Rs 5,00,000 to the municipality annually. As a result, the municipality’s income will increase. We will use this amount in development projects. This initiative will also help in preserving the aesthetics of the city. We will not allow advertisement hoardings to be put up randomly,” Mitra added.
