‘Anti-state govt campaign carried out’

Kolkata: Trinamool Congress leader Kunal Ghosh on social media on Tuesday spoke on the Midnapore Medical College and Hospital incident and said that anti-state government campaign was carried out and saline issue was brought up to divert the attention of the people from the actual cause that might have led to the death of a woman.

He said that as per sources, three senior doctors were supposed to carry out OT but they were not there in the hospital. One of these three senior doctors perform OTs in various private nursing homes, Ghosh added.

He further stated that the anesthesia expert was not in the hospital. A first year post graduate trainee (PGTs) performed the job. Two third-year PGTs assisted by interns carried out the OT. The problem arose after anaesthesia was administered by an inexperienced person. Things became complicated later. A senior doctor was informed as the situation had worsened.

The situation went out of hand by that time. As an attempt was made hastily to cover up the case, it was erroneously shown in the record that one doctor attended two OTs at a time. Later, the saline issue was cooked up to malign the state government. If there is any saline related issue, it must come to light.

“I hope that in the investigation report, the faults of some doctors must be brought to light,” Ghosh said in his post on X.
