About 27 hurt after oil tanker rams into bus

Kolkata: About 27 persons were injured after an oil tanker rammed behind a South Bengal State Transport Corporation (SBSTC) bus on National Highway (NH) 116 at Sahid Matangini block area of Tamluk in East Midnapore.
The injured passengers were rushed to Tamluk Hospital where 15 of them were admitted. The rest of the passengers of the bus were discharged after necessary treatment. The driver and helper of the oil tanker also suffered injuries.
According to sources, on Sunday morning a bus from Digha was moving towards Kolkata. At the Ramtarak area in Tamluk, the driver came to a sudden halt at a traffic signal. The oil tanker was also moving in the same direction behind the bus.
As the bus came to a sudden halt, the driver of the oil tanker failed to control the vehicle and it rammed behind the bus.
Local people initially started the rescue operation. Later cops from Tamluk Police Station rushed the injured persons to the hospital. Due to the accident, huge traffic congestion took place on the highway.
Traffic movement became normal after almost an hour.
