Abhishek to start ‘sanyog yatra’ from April 25

Trinamool Congress (TMC) national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee is to hold ‘sanyog yatra’ across Bengal beginning April 25 under which he will go to the block-level and meet the local people.

This comes as an effective mode of campaign for the ruling Trinamool ahead of the Panchayat polls where youth icon Banerjee will interact with the people in the obscure villages listening to the difficulties of the village people.

On the issue, Trinamool supremo Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday said: “Our party has decided to go all out against the BJP. I have given the responsibility to AITC national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee to hold ‘sanyog yatra’ across Bengal. Beginning April 25, our party leaders will interact with people through small yatras and continue the exercise for the next two months. The leaders will also speak to the people to hear their message and take feedback.”

According to sources within TMC, Abhishek may also stay the night with village people in their houses. During his campaign, he will also speak to the local leaders of Trinamool and booth presidents. It is an attempt to consolidate the party’s support base ahead of the rural polls. Abhishek is expected to begin his ‘sanyog yatra’ from Cooch Behar. He is expected to stay in Cooch Behar for 2 to 3 days. After offering his Puja at Madanmohan temple, he will go to Dinhata. He is expected to meet Trinamool leaders from 186 Gram Panchayats.

Abhishek has been holding rallies in various districts to further strengthen the party’s organisation keeping in mind the Panchayat elections.

TMC is going all out to mobilise its youth brigade. Abhishek, who has become the icon of youth forces, during his election rallies may spell out some strategies to fight against the BJP during the forthcoming Panchayat polls.
