11-yr-old injured by bullet in Cooch Behar
Cooch Behar: An 11-year-old boy, Mahidip Alam, was injured by a bullet in the Nayarhat Atiabari area of Gobra Chora under Sahebganj Police Station in Dinhata subdivision. The incident occurred when the teenager was returning from the market. He was shot in the stomach near a Madrassa located some distance from his house. He was immediately taken to Dinhata sub-division hospital and due to the severity of his condition, he has been referred to a private hospital in Cooch Behar, where he is currently undergoing treatment.
The family of the injured boy stated that they were not aware of who fired the shot. The incident occurred around 4:30 pm on Sunday.
According to police sources, a man named Mehbub Alam allegedly shot his son, Mahidip Alam, in the Atiabari area of Sahibganj police station on Sunday evening. Local residents rushed to his aid and took him to a private hospital in Cooch Behar after receiving initial treatment at Dinhata Sub-District Hospital. The police are investigating the motive behind the shooting and the also looking for the firearm .
Additional District Superintendent of Police, Kumar Sunny Raj, of Cooch Behar District Police confirmed the incident and informed that the injured teenager is currently receiving medical attention in the hospital. The police have initiated a thorough investigation into the entire incident.
