‘Beneficiaries under Delhi Arogya Kosh on rise’

Delhi health & family welfare minister, A K Walia, on Monday informed that the number of beneficiaries under Delhi Arogya Kosh Scheme of the Delhi government has significantly gone up since the eligibility income criterion of availing the financial help under the scheme was raised from Rs 2 lakh to Rs 3 lakh per annum. He was chairing the meeting of the governing body of the Delhi Arogya Kosh.

The health minister informed that the number of beneficiaries during the first three months of  this year was 41 and the amount of financial assistance given was about Rs. 49 lakh.

Comparing the upward trend, he added that during the period between April to August this year, the number of beneficiaries rose to 165 and the financial assistance sanctioned was increased to Rs 210 lakh.

Walia further informed that the majority of the patients who have benefitted under the scheme had been suffering from cardiac disorders followed by cancer and kidney ailments. He informed that several patients had been treated at notified private hospitals through this scheme and availed the timely treatment. 

He appealed to doctors and the public to make optimum use of the Delhi Arogya Kosh Scheme so that poor and needy patients get timely medical intervention with financial support from the Delhi government.
