Bawania gave intro to victims before committing crime: Cops

Rajesh Bawania, one of the most wanted gangsters of Delhi-NCR, who was arrested on Wednesday, used to give his complete introduction to all the victims, to spread his terror through word of mouth. He believed this would help him extort money from businessmen and other wealthy person, said police.
On Wednesday evening, Bawania, along with four other gang member — Ravi Dahiya (alias Lamba), Jaideep Dahiya, Rahul Dabas (alias Maya) and Sandeep Dahiya, were arrested in outer Delhi by the special cell of Delhi police in a ten-minute shoot out. Rajesh carried a booty of Rs 3 lakh and was wanted by police in Delhi, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, in at least 45 cases which included robbery, murder, extortion, etc. ‘He would spread terror through word of mouth publicity and extort money from wealthy businessmen. In a way, he had set up his own extortion industry’, said SN Shrivastava, Special Commissioner (Special Cell).
He further said Rajesh wanted to take ‘top slot’ in Delhi’s crime world. ‘He wanted his name to become synonym of terror and to achieve this he used to tell his victims his full name, father’s name and complete address after committing the crime,’ Shrivastava added.
Police recovered 11 firearms from the five accused which include a country made rifle of .315 bore fitted with magazine and five cartridges. The Scorpio car in which the gang was traveling was also found to be stolen from Sonepat, Haryana and it has been seized. He has been booked under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA), apart from relevant sections of IPC and the Arms Act.
According to police, Rajesh entered the crime world in 2005 and till he was last arrested in 19 March this year had committed 24 heinous crimes.
