Battle-ready: Dikshit, Vardhan file nomination

The three time chief minister of Delhi has Rs 20,000 cash in hand and Rs 8.82 lakh bank deposits in three banks. According to the affidavit, Dikshit has 40.7 gm gold, 1.7 kg silver, a flat in Nizamuddin East, but no car. Dikshit also has shares and has given Rs 35 lakh of personal loan, while she has Rs 21 lakh in her PPF account.

Her rival for the chief minister’s post, Harsh Vardhan from the BJP, who is also seeking a fourth term from Krishna Nagar assembly segment has Rs 28.57 lakh worth of movable assets on his name while his family has total assets are worth Rs 1.17 core. He has 357 gm gold jewellery and 0.22 kg silver jewellery to his name.

Vardhan has taken a bank loan of Rs 2.43 lakh for car and Rs 17 lakh home loan, thus showing liabilities worth Rs 19.48 lakh. Vardhan holds a MBBS and MS degree, while Dikshit is MA in History.

Sheila’s legal and political rival Vijender Gupta who has been fielded by BJP to challenge her face from New Delhi has total assets worth Rs 6.04 crore and Rs 7.20 crore in liabilities.

Out of this amount, assets worth Rs 1.39 crore and liabilities worth Rs 49 lakh are in the name of his wife. The couple have shares and debentures in a couple of firms.

A confident Vardhan has filed only one nomination paper, while Dikhit has filed four nomination papers. Vijender Gupta has filed three nomination papers, while his wife Shobha has also filed two nomination papers.

According to sources, Shobha will not contest elections but act as covering candidate for her husband in case his nomination papers are rejected.
