In a bizarre incident, a six-year-old girl died after being injured by the Delhi police’s iron barricade lying on road in Neb Sarai area. The victim was playing when the barricade fell on her on Monday, said police.
Residents of the area were angry with the police for leaving the barricades on road. Sensing that situation might turn for worse, senior police officers reached the spot and talked to the agitated locals. Traffic on the Devli Road was disrupted for about two hours afterwards. The incident took place around 10 am when Sabina, a resident of Devli Road, was playing with her friends outside her house. A passerby saw the girl and informed her family members and police. The police took the girl to All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) hospital, where doctors declared her dead on arrival. ‘We have registered a case under Section 304A of IPC against unknown persons,’ a senior police officer said.
