Banks to keep eye on hawala trasaction during polls

Election Commission has roped in private and nationalised banks to keep a hawk-eye vigil on money laundering during elections. The commission has asked candidates to open a fresh bank account and furnish details in nomination papers to keep a tab on expenses incurred during poll.

Unlike in past, when candidates transacted in cash, this time the commission has made it mandatory for candidates to transact through cheque with no ATM card facility.
