Bank of Baroda celebrates 105 years

Bank of Baroda, India's International Bank, continues to mark its presence in the country's banking scene, as it entered its 105th year.

The now famous logo, 'Baroda Sun' of this bank, shines brightly as it notched up impressive growth among the public sector banks in major parameters, Total Business and Net Profit recorded as on 31 March 2012.

To commemorate its foundation day on 20 July, the Bank's staff and family members, as well as former employees who are now retired, joined together for an evening of various activities to celebrate the spirit of joy and festivity, teamwork, cultural unity and recognition of excellence in performance.

Commencing with the traditional lighting of the lamp and garlanding the portrait of the bank's founder, Maharaja Sayaji Rao Gaekwad III, by the senior executives of the bank, the function moved on to the welcome address by Lucknow's reginal head A K Singla, who summed up the bank's growth story. The key note address delivered by the zonal head and general manager D K Garg highlighted the great strides made by the bank in the state in all spheres of banking activity and particularly in the area of financial inclusion and social banking thus bringing the bank closer to people of all strata in society.

The programme was attended by a huge gathering of present and former staff members and awards were given to those completing 25 years of service at the bank and also those who have made outstanding contributions to it.

The audience was treated to a delightful cultural programme presented by a leading musical group in the city and was appreciated for its variety and local flavour. The vote of thanks was given by V K Chaturvedi, deputy zonal head of the area.
