Baglifters’ gang busted

Three juveniles allegedly associated with a gang that would lift bags from cars by puncturing their tyres at traffic lights were arrested on Friday and gold and diamond jewellery worth Rs one crore recovered from them.

The accused belonging to ‘Tyre Puncture Group’ were arrested ‘on secret information from DDA Park at Pushp Vihar in south Delhi’s Saket locality when they came to dispose of the stolen gold and other jewellery on their motorcycle,’ said Chhaya Sharma, DCP (South). Police became active after several incidents of bag lifting from the cars by puncturing the tyres were reported from various parts of the national capital and adjoining areas.

They collected details of several offenders with similar modus-operandi and during this they zeroed in on a bag lifting group of juveniles known as ‘Tyre Puncture Group’ of Madangir, she said.
