The Uttar Pradesh government has suspended two senior officers and a clerk of the regional transport office in Ghaziabad, who were found to be involved in making a driving license of a terrorist currently lodged in an Arab Jail. They were found responsible for issuing a learning driving license in connivance with touts active in the office. Mohd Fasih, the terrorist involved in several cases in India and abroad is currently lodged in a jail in Saudi Arab. The documents used to procure the license– a voter's ID card and school certificates– were found to be fake. And his photographs were taken from the internet. The fake voter's ID card had the residential address of a Raj Nagar's Sector 7 house. A fake certificate of a public school from Kavi Nagar was used as a proof for date of birth. The documents and photograph were submitted along with the form at the RTO office on July 20. The licence was prepared in a day.
On 9 August, the license was cancelled after the incident came to light. RTO VK Singh has ordered a departmental inquiry in to the matter under ARTO Kamal Gupta who recommended action against these officers and also lodged complains in the Kavi Nagar police station of Ghaziabad. In a routine procedure, the RTO staff match the photograph of the applicant in the office and capture his image with a webcam. They also verify the photocopied documents with their originals. The matter came in the light after revealed it in a sting operation.
