Attempt to rob a bank foiled, cops recover Rs 9 lakh

A timely intervention of Greater Noida police foiled the attempts of a gang of armed criminals to loot a private bank in the area on Tuesday night. Rs 9.75 lakh were recovered from them.

According to the police, seven armed criminals attacked the HDFC bank staff in Surajpur at around 8 pm on Tuesday. When the alarm went off, a police control room van reached the spot and cordoned off the area. More members of the police were summoned from the nearby police station. In the gunfight that ensued, two of the robbers, including the guard of the bank, Sunder, hailing from nearby village Rabupura, were arrested while the rest managed to escape.

‘The guard of the bank hatched the conspiracy to loot it. We have arrested him and raids are being carried out to nab the others,’ said Praveen Kumar, Noida police chief. The arrested criminals have been identified as Sunder and Kamal. While Mangal, Rajesh, Vinod and two others are still absconding.
