Assailants fire at woman after snatching bid fails

Police recovered two bullet shells from the spot and registered a complaint against unidentified persons who are still at large. The incident took place at around 6.30 am at Kaushambi park locality when scores of people out for morning walk in the area. As the victim was walking towards her home, two persons on a white Pulsar bike appeared in front of her and attempted to snatch her chain and mobile phone.
As she noticed them, she raised an alarm and foiled their bid. The passers-by immediately rushed to the spot. Upon seeing a group of people coming towards them, the assailants fired on the woman and in the air before fleeing. The locals immediately called police and a complaint was lodged. ‘We have received the complaint and are investigating the matter. We are also scanning CCTV footages of the area to identify the attackers,’ said Brijesh Kumar Sharma, investigating officer of the case.
