ASI shot dead in Vaishali; Paswan attacks Nitish

Just a few days after bodies of two engineers were recovered from Bihar districts, report of an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) being shot dead by unknown assailants has raised figures over Nitish Kumar government. Opposition has attacked Kumar saying that string of such killings showed that ‘jungle raj is back’ and the Chief Minister is ‘helpless’.

In a shocking incident, two persons, including an ASI, were killed in Vaishali district on Friday night. ASI Ashok Kumar Yadav, who was a native of Buxar district, was gunned down by unidentified criminals by his own service revolver. Yadav’s body was dumped at Manua under Sadar Hajipur police station.

According to district police officials, the deceased ASI, who was posted at Vaishali police station, had gone on a three-day leave from Wednesday. The ASI’s bullet ridden body in police uniform was recovered by Sadar police on Saturday morning.

Vaishali Superintendent of Police told Millennium Post that police were investigating into the ASI murder case and exact reason was not known. Meanwhile, police sources said that service revolver of deceased was also missing.

In another incident, body of Himanshu Shekhar Singh, grandson of a late police in-change, was recovered from an isolated place in Bidupur areas. He was also missing for the last few days.

Meanwhile, over twelve rounds of firing took place outside the residence-cum clinic of a noted physician of Hajipur, Vivekanand Jha, at around 11 PM on Friday when the doctor was inside, Town Inspector Shankar Jha said.

Hitting out at Nitish government, Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan said, “There are three ministers from Vaishali region in Nitish government, including two sons of RJD chief Lalu Prasad of whom one is also Deputy Chief Minister. Still, all this is happening in Vaishali. What will happen to the security of people when the police are not safe in Bihar. Why the Chief Minister is so helpless and silent on all this.” Paswan is an MP from Hajipur.

BJP ally and HAM(S) president Jitan Ram Manjhi also took a dig at the Nitish Kumar government over law and order situation.
