ASI attempts suicide, blames SHO

An assistant sub-inspector [ASI] allegedly attempted suicide by shooting himself in the police station on Friday. The victim, Veer Dutt, 51, has been posted in Sector-14 police station.
According to sources, in his suicide note, he has mentioned the name of SHO of Civil Lines police station. In the note, the ASI blamed thje SHO for creating trouble for him and provoking him to end his life.
Dutt was critically injured as he received a gun shot injury in his stomach.‘The incident took place inside the police station premises where he was posted. Immediately, he was rushed to the nearby Civil Hospital. There, he underwent an operation,’ said a senior police official.
The official added that after the operation, his statement has been recorded. They, however, denied that he mentioned any SHO.
Dutt is a resident of Nazafargarh in Delhi and stays along with his family. Surender Pal, deputy commissioner of police [West] said, ‘Dutt was disturbed for a very long time. He was having health issues, and was depressed. We have also taken the feedback of his colleagues in the police station. They also told us that Dutt was mentally disturbed and could not concentrate on his work.’
Pal added that recently Dutt had taken a month-long leave without any official notification.
Later, when he was found absent from his duty, two cops went to his house anmd they were informed that he was unwell and will re-join his service after a month. ‘A few days ago, he re-joined his service, but constantly used to complain about his ill-health.
The official added that a case under Section-309 [attempt to commit suicide] has been registered against Dutt. The revolver as well as the suicide note that were recovered from his possession have been taken into the police custody.
