Ashok Walia holds meeting on tackling disease outbreak

Delhi health, irrigation and flood control minister Dr Ashok Kumar Walia on Friday chaired a high-level meeting to take stock of the administration’s preparedness in dealing with a possible outbreak of diseases in the relief camps set up for people effected by the rise in the level of water in Yamuna.

Walia held this meeting immediately after his arrival from Geneva. ‘The issue of minimising apprehensions of outbreak of diseases in the camp was discussed at length,’ Walia said. He informed that the discussion centered around tackling waterborne diseases such as typhoid and cholera.

A decision was taken to ensure hygiene at the camps and provide clean drinking water to the people.
