Asaram’s spokesperson too lands in trouble

Even as Asaram Bapu is under scanner over charges of sexual assault of a minor, his spokesperson has sparked a fresh controversy by allegedly comparing the self-styled godman with Sikh Guru Nanak Dev while speaking on a news channel.

A case for hurting the religious sentiments of the community was registered against Neelam Dubey, media adviser of the Asaram Trust, after a complaint against her was filed by Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Committee at Parliament Street police station in New Delhi.

The complaint alleges that the spokesperson made ‘objectionable’ remarks against Guru Nanak, Gautam Budha and other religious leaders while reacting to the alleged charges of sexual assault on a minor girl against Asaram Bapu during a debate on a Hindi news channel recently.

A petition has also been filed in an Indore court seeking action against her for hurting the sentiments of Sikh community by her remarks.

The petition was filed by an advocate, Inderjeet Singh Bhatia, in the court of Judicial Magistrate First
Class (JMFC) Jitendra Singh Kushwaha.
