Arvind Kejriwal to begin ‘civil disobedience movement’ today

Before starting a Civil Disobedience Movement from Saturday, against rising electricity and water bills in the national capital, Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal on Friday once again slammed the Delhi government for the same. Kejriwal alleged that Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit had colluded with power and water companies and illegally increased the tariff. He also attacked the opposition BJP saying its agitation against the hike in power and water tariff was just an election gimmick and that the party was hand-in-glove with the Congress.

Kejriwal will fast at a private house near the sub-divisional magistrate's office in Sunder Nagri in east Delhi. Kejriwal claimed that the residents of the house had to borrow money to pay their water and electric bills, so huge was the sum. AAP members will also protest in 264 wards across Delhi and launch a door-to-door campaign, asking people not to pay bills in accordance with the increased tariff. 'People in the national capital are being forced to pay through their nose for water and electricity. They are scared of facing legal actions if they don’t pay the bills. To instill confidence in them, I will be on indefinite fast from Saturday,’ said Kejriwal.
