Art that explores balance

Making India shine on <g data-gr-id="31">International</g> art scene, <g data-gr-id="21">Delhi based</g> artist Gouri Sahni, who is known for her figurative works, has been selected and invited to showcase her works at the prestigious Venice Biennale 2015.
A total of four <g data-gr-id="32">art works</g>, titled Laxmi Narayan has been selected for exhibit at Venice Biennale. Laxmi Narayan is a series of work depicting yin and yang- of Goddess Laxmi and lord Vishnu – symbolised by the lotus and Shesh Naag. The works explore the balance of life, of body and mind, man and woman and emphasise on cosmic balance. The works depict how opposite forces are complementary to each other, how opposites create the perfect balance.
The lotus, symbolic of Goddess Lakshmi depicts prosperity, peace and harmony while Sheshnag, represents Lord Vishnu in power, control and <g data-gr-id="25">reverence</g>. It is different in anomaly but shows a balanced co-existence. All the works are done on canvas with oil and acrylic.
“I am honoured to be part of the prestigious Venice biennale. More so, because the organisers have selected my Laxmi Narayan series which is so Indian yet global. Although, my inspiration is Indian mythology, <g data-gr-id="27">however</g> the series has worldwide relevance as it highlights Yin and Yang,” says Gouri.
Titled La Biennale di Venezia, this is the world’s most prestigious art event running in its 56th edition in Venice, Italy. The biennale opened on May 9 and will be on until November, showcasing all forms of creative art.
