Army gypsy driver detained for not being able to furnish proper papers

Keeping a tight vigilance on Republic Day, Delhi Police stopped an Army gypsy when its driver did not show proper documents during checking at East Delhi’s Ghazipur area on Tuesday morning.

The local police detained the car driver and impounded the vehicle. However, the driver, identified as Arjun Nagar, was later released after he was interrogated and was also issued a challan.

According to the police, the incident occurred at around 10 am when an Army car was stopped by cops at Ghazipur. Nagar, who was behind the wheel at the time of checking, said that he did not possess the documents pertaining to the car as he had bought it in a car auction on January 19 and the car was not yet registered on his name.

The car bore an army number plate, which was still there on the vehicle, police said. Nagar was detained by the local police and was thoroughly interrogated. When they did not find anything suspicious, they released him, but issued him a challan for not carrying proper documents.

Police have increased vigilance in Delhi-NCR after an ITBP inspector general’s SUV with a blue beacon was stolen from his rented house in Noida days before Republic Day.
