Army chief calls on Hemraj’s family

Army chief General Bikram Singh went to Shernagar Kherar village in Mathura district along with his wife to meet the grief-stricken family of Lance Naik Hemraj, who was beheaded along the LoC on 6 January. The family members went on hunger strike demanding the retrieval of Hemraj’s head from Pakistan. They agreed to call off the fast if the Army chief visited them.

Turning down Pakistan’s allegations that Indian Army crossed the LoC, Singh said the allegations were a canard spread to defame India. ‘Indian Army personnel never crossed the LoC and all claims by Pakistan in this connection are false,’ General Singh said while talking to reporters in Mathura.
