The Army has issued an order to its retired personnel saying they should use the word ‘retired’ only as a suffix to their name as ‘rank never retires’.
In its circular issued on 21 July, the Army headquarters said that it was seen that retired officers were mentioning the word ‘Retired’ after their rank which is incorrect.
It said the ranks of service officers are granted by the President of India and they are valid after their demise also, Army officials said.
