Armed robbers break into jewellery shop

Five armed robbers barged into a jewellery workshop situated in the Mukherjee Nagar area and looted cash worth Rs 3 lakh and gold worth Rs 8 lakh at gunpoint on Tuesday night. The robbers kept six workshop staff hostage during the incident.
‘We have started investigations on the basis of the evidence. We have got their description through the employees. We are examining the evidence and they will soon be arrested,’ said a police official. ‘A case had been registered against the unknown persons in a local police station,’ the police official added. Investigators suspect an insider’s hand in the incident.
‘The possibility of someone tipping off the robbers about the movement of cash has not been ruled out,’ said another Mukherjee Nagar police official.
