Archana Bhargava takes charge as United Bank of India CMD

Archana Bhargava has joined United Bank of India (UBI) as Chairperson & Managing Director (CMD). A brilliant student, she studied at Convent of Jesus & Mary school, New Delhi, and is a post-graduate gold medalist from Miranda House, University of Delhi. Bhargava has also been a National Science Talent Scholarship holder.

She joined Punjab National Bank (PNB) as Management Trainee (MT) in 1977.  After a 34-year carrer with PNB, during which she served large corporate credit, priority sector, planning & development and financial inclusion, she was elevated as executive director with Canara Bank in April 2011.

In that capacity, Bhargava looked after strategic departments like international banking, large corporate credit, priority sector, risk management, inspection & audit, general administration, financial management, all nine subsidiaries of Canara Bank, and various other departments.

She has also worked in the United Kingdom and travelled widely to the continents of Europe, Africa, North America and South America.

Bhargava has also been on professional visits to West Asia and Far East Asia. She has received several awards for her outstanding banking achievements from various government and accredited agencies. She is also passionate about the promotion of inclusive growth.
