AR Rahman hopes to promote tourism through music concerts

Internationally acclaimed music composer AR Rahman wants to play brand ambassador for the Narendra Modi government. The musician met the Tourism and Culture minister Dr Mahesh Sharma on Tuesday in the Capital, giving him a presentation on how he plans to promote India’s tourism and culture through his music globally.
Following the meeting, the Government plans to rope in Rahman to represent India overseas, to promote tourism. When singer and music composer AR Rahman met Tourism and Culture minister Mahesh Sharma, one didn’t anticipate how fruitful the meet would be.
“AR Rahman during this meeting with Mahesh Sharma proposed that he wanted to promote Indian music abroad. The suggestion was very well received by the minister who shall be finalising this proposal soon,” said a source. The source added,” Rahman and his team during the presentation to the minister also suggested that they would not only collaborate with foreign artists but also have teachers from international universities to teach students in India about music. Rahman also said he plans to hold global concerts across various countries and also look at the possibility of an international level music school for students in India and abroad .” During the <g data-gr-id="26">meeting</g> Rahman showed some old clippings of the music concerts that he has held abroad.
“The Minister was very receptive and has taken this idea made by Rahman’s team very well. As a part of this <g data-gr-id="25">proposal</g> Rahman will be assiduously promoting India’s tourism. He will be given the responsibility of promoting India as a must visit country and as an ideal tourist destination to the entire world,” said the source.
