The Supreme Court on Tuesday agreed to hear tomorrow the plea of Haryana government against a Bombay High Court decision ordering registration of an FIR against its cops who were allegedly involved in the shoot-out of gangster Sandeep Gadoli in a Mumbai suburb hotel.
The matter, seeking urgent hearing, was mentioned by Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi before the bench headed by Chief Justice of India T S Thakur. “We will hear the matter tomorrow,” the Bench, also comprising justices R Banumathi and U U Lalit, said.
The Bombay High Court had yesterday directed the Mumbai police to register an FIR into the alleged encounter by the Gurgaon police at a hotel there on February 7. The plea filed by Haryana government said the High Court had passed the order without even making the concerned police officials as parties to the plea filed by the brother of the slain alleged gangster.
It further alleged that the impugned order was “ex-parte, illegal and erroneous” one.
