While addressing party leaders and workers at the extended general body meeting of the party at Netaji Indoor Stadium, Banerjee said, “Maintain discipline and work sincerely. Remember, you are being constantly watched and I am keeping a tab on everything.
“No one is indispensable and anyone flouting party norms will be thrown out,” she said. Expelled CPI(M) leader Abdur Rezzak Mollah and Siddiqullah Chowdhury , cricketer Laxmi Ratan Shukla and Vaishali Dalmiya, daughter of Jagmohan Dalmiya were also present on the dais. Banerjee said she was keeping a tab on the situation and was fully aware of what was going on in Nanur, Canning and other parts of the state. “I will wait and watch and finally take the most stringent action against those who use the party for their personal benefit.”
The Trinamool supremo urged party workers not to question the steps which the Election Commission might take and cooperate with the administration. “The arrogance of leaders who take law and order in their own hands and attack administration will not be tolerated,” she said, adding that the party does not “believe in muscle power and relies on human intelligence to do politics.”
Banerjee also urged leaders and workers to go to the people and inform them about the development projects taken up by the state. “We are all working to develop Bengal and bring back the lost glory. There is no point in remaining in power if we fail to develop Bengal,” she said. She asked party workers to take a pledge to serve people and welcomed the involvement of students in politics.
The Chief Minister said there was no place for complacency in the party and the leaders and workers must go all out to defeat those who did not want the development of Bengal. She said that some political parties were trying to disturb rationing system and added that under no circumstances would this be tolerated.
Banerjee claimed that Bengal was the top-ranked state in the country in providing 100 days of work and free medical service and that the administration had worked impartially in giving free cycles to students. In the last four and a half years, she said, the state had spent Rs 2800 crore on social development of minorities. “Development work has been carried out throughout the state. Schemes have been taken for the improvement of workers. We have worked to develop Bengal and will continue to do so in future,” Banerjee said.
