Anti-Khurshid battleground to shift to Farrukhabad

After failing to get the resignation of law minister Salman Khurshid over the alleged irregularities in his NGO, India Against Corruption [IAC] chose to end the protest in the capital and take it to of Khurshid’s Lok Sabh constituency – Farrukhabad in Uttar Pradesh from 1 November.

Announcing the end of his protest at Parliament Street, Kejriwal said that they have not received a response from Prime Minister’s Office for an appointment and now they are shifting their battle to Farrukhabad. ‘We are suspending our agitation, not closing it... We will take our fight to every village of Farrukhabad,’ Kejriwal said. ‘Now the volunteers will go to Farrukhabad. We are getting more documents against Khurshid. Public will make a disabled person fight against him in the next elections and defeat him,’ he said.

IAC activists, including Arvind Kejriwal, along with Rashtriya Viklang Party were protesting at Parliament Street for the last four days demanding Khurshid’s resignation. Announcing the decision, Kejriwal accused quid pro quo between the Congress and Samajwadi Party.

Before ending the protest, apart from targeting Khurshid, Kejriwal also targeted UPA government, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Bhartiya Janta Party and Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav. Kejriwal said, ‘In the last three-four days, Salman Khurshid has been exposed in front of the country... the Congress has been exposed... and so has the PM.’

On PM Manmohan Singh, he said, ‘He too has been exposed. He does not speak. Congress and BJP are hand in glove. In a couple of days, [BJP chief Nitin] Gadkari will be exposed,’ he said.

He said that that UP govt would not act against Khurshid as the union law minister was also the lawyer to SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav in a disproportionate assets case in the apex court. ‘Both will save each other,’ Kejriwal said.
