Another suicide in glittering Gurgaon

A 27-year-old married woman committed suicide by jumping off the sixth floor of her neighbouring apartment.

The deceased, Meenakshi, was a housewife and stayed with her husband, Amit, and two children, a 7-year-old son and a 3-year-old daughter, in their apartment at Sector-10 of Gurgaon. She had dropped her children in school and came back home. After that, she went to her friend's apartment, Polygon, that was adjacent to her apartment, Karmyog. It is being alleged that she jumped off her friend's apartment building.

According to neighbours, on Sunday night, apparently, she fought with her husband. It is being alleged that this had led her to commit suicide the next day. But the police denied this rumour saying that Meenakshi's mother was staying with her daughter's family in the same apartment for the past 10 days. She had not reported any fight between her daughter and son-in-law.

'Meenakshi died soon after she jumped off the sixth floor. No suicide note was recovered, neither from the spot nor from her house. We are questioning the family members and the deceased's friend who lives in the apartment building that the victim had committed suicide from. All plausible angles for her death – whether she jumped or was pushed by someone – are being looked into,' said Surender Pal Singh, DCP (West), Gurgaon.
