Another power firm stops supply to Delhi

After Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC), it was the turn of Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam Limited (SJVNL) to stop supply of power to the national capital on account of no payment of outstanding bills.
Damodar Valley Corporation stopped supply of 220 MW to BSES-Yamuna Power Limited (BYPL) on Thursday as it failed to clear an outstanding bill of about Rs 443.48 crore.
SJVN Ltd, which operates the Nathpa-Jhakhri power station in Himachal Pradesh, had issued a notice to regulate supply to BSES-Yamuna, which distributes power in trans-Yamuna area, for non-payment of old dues.
Delhi Government Power generation companies – Pragati Power Corporation Ltd (PPCL) and Indraprastha Power Generation Company Ltd (IPGCL) have also threatened shutdown for non-payment of dues running into thousands of crores of rupees.
A couple of months ago, the newly-appointed principal power secretary in Delhi government RK Verma had summoned chief executive officers of BSES (Yamuna and Rajdhani ) and handed them a 72-hour notice to make part payment of Rs 3,400 crore outstanding to two Delhi government-owned power generation and transmission companies.
