A city court has given another death sentence to serial killer Chandrakant Jha in another case of beheading and chopping, saying that he committed the murder in an extremely brutal, diabolical and revolting manner. Jha was given death sentence in another case on Tuesday by additional sessions judge Kamini Lau.
The judge said that the case fulfils all the criteria of ‘rarest of rare’ and the brutality committed by him on the 25-year-old victim shows he cannot be reformed. Immediately after pronouncing the verdict, Jha asked the court to fix a date for execution of the punishment. The court, however, told him that the court functions as per the law.
The court also said if such perpetrators of crime like Jha are not removed from the society, they would destroy it. According to the prosecution, Jha had murdered one Anil Mandal in 2006 and had dumped his body outside Tihar jail after chopping off the head and limbs. The other two murder cases are also similar in which he had killed one Upender and another person whom Jha referred to as Dalip, both in 2007.
Along with the decapitated body, Jha had left a letter mocking the legal system of the country. He had challenged the police to catch him and had also threatened to send such similar gifts (headless bodies) every 15 days.
