Another cop attacked at Mansoravar Park

In a yet another attack on policeman in Delhi, an additional sub-inspector (ASI) of Delhi Police was thrashed while he was on duty on Wednesday evening in Mansarovar Park area of northeast Delhi.

According to the police, the incident took place when the ASI, identified as Jagdish Narayan, received a PCR call around 8 pm on Wednesday regarding a quarrel between two groups in the area.

‘Narayan, along with his colleague, went to the spot to probe the matter. However, as soon as he stopped his motorcycle at the spot to inquire about the case, one of the accused attacked him with a glass bottle and injured him severely,’ a police officer said.

The accused were caught after the assault as several other police officers were also deployed in the area owing to security reasons during the festivals.

‘The incident took place barely a few meters away from a check post due to which the accused were caught. Narayan was soon taken to a hospital and is said to be out of danger now,’ the officer said.
In the recent past, several policemen have been attacked by criminals. This is the fifth attack on policemen in less than a month.

Last week, a group of seven people attacked two Delhi Police constables with bricks and stones after the policemen stopped them from drinking and gambling in public at west Delhi’s Nawada near Uttam Nagar.

Taking into account the increasing number of attack on policemen, Delhi Police commissioner BS Bassi asked district DCPs to organise special training sessions.

Moreover, the Delhi traffic police have asked its personnel to be armed while conducting vehicle checks at night.
