Another bridge on Yamuna?

If everything goes according to the Delhi government’s plan, a new bridge on the river Yamuna will be constructed between Alipur village in west Delhi and Karawal Nagar in north-east Delhi.

The new bridge will make commuting hassle-free, beginning from ISBT to Singhu Border. The bridge would help motorists save time while travelling and will reduce pressure from Wazirabad and ISBT bridges over Yamuna.

Commuters of east Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad and commuters using the GT Karnal Road will be benefited.

Government officials said around one lakh daily commuters will be benefited.

Sources said the Public Works Department [PWD] is in the process of appointing a consultant to conduct a feasibility study and detailed geometrics of the proposed bridge.

This would be the 15th bridge on the river over its 22 km stretch from Wazirabad barrage till Okhla barrage in the national Capital, while there is no bridge on the river between Singhu Border and Wazirabad barrage.

PWD officials said that two locations is required to be studied in detail along with the complete traffic survey of the area on the both sides of river.
