Anne of Green Gables gets racy makeover

The innocent 10-year-old of Lucy Maud Montgomery's novel 'Anne of Green Gables' has undergone a racy makeover.
The latest cover of the 1908 classic shows an older, blue-eyed blonde much to the horror of devoted fans of the famous redhead. The book is in the public domain, making publishers free to design the cover.
The book, available on Amazon, was released in November by a self-publisher and features a three-in-one set: Anne of Green Gables, Anne of Avonlea, and Anne of The Island.
However, a blonde and older Anne has certainly not gone down well with fans, who have ridiculed the publishers for changing the colour of Anne's hair. ‘Tell me this blond Anne of Green Gables thing is an April Fool's joke sent out too early. Please,’ one Rachel Held Evans tweeted.
