Anna Hazare is unlikely to visit the protest venue in the eastern part of the city, Sundar Nagari, where Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal is sitting on indefinite fast against 'inflated' power and water bills. Hazare's aides in Ralegan Siddhi said that the scheduled programme for Hazare’s upcoming Punjab tour, does not officially mention such a visit.
Kejriwal had earlier said that Hazare had told him that he would visit his protest venue during his tour of Punjab, where he would be addressing rallies as part of his nationwide tour before the next general elections in 2014. According to Kejriwal, Hazare had told him that he would visit his fast venue on 29 March. Sources close to Hazare however, said that the programme for Hazare’s tour of Punjab and other northern states have been finalised and there is no scheduled visit to Kejriwal's fast venue in Delhi. 'As of now there is no such plan for Anna Hazare to visit Delhi to join Arvind Kejriwal’s fast. His schedule for Punjab is ready, and as far as our knowledge goes, there is no mention of such a visit,' said one of Hazare’s aides from Ralegan Siddhi.
The aide, however, also added that 'If Anna has an unscheduled visit to Kejriwal's fast venue in his mind, he has not told us about it.' In the past, Hazare has frequently changed his stand on his former aide, Kejriwal, who had been closely associated with anti-graft crusador Hazare during his fast for Jan Lokpal Bill. Earlier Hazare had also said that he would campaign for Kejriwal if he decided to fight the elections, as he knew him well, but he later went back on his word and said he had nothing to do with any political party. Kejriwal, before starting his fast, had gone to Ralegan Siddhi to seek Hazare's blessings and to invite him to attend his fast against 'inflated' power and water bills. After the meeting with Hazare, Kejriwal had said that Hazare had agreed to join his fast in Delhi.
However, later Hazare said that he would not participate as he has nothing to do with party politics. Anna Hazare, along with former Army Chief VK Singh, is embarking on a nationwide tour from 31 March, starting from Jallianwala Bagh to awaken people for a change in the system.
FAST ENTERS FOURTH DAY, PARTY SAYS ARVIND’S HEALTH ON THE DECLINE
Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal’s indefinite fast against 'inflated' power and water bills entered its fourth day on Tuesday with the party claiming that his health was on the decline. The party claimed 1,86,697 people have so far signed the protest letters to Delhi Chief Minister Shiela Dikshit pledging that they would not pay 'inflated' bills. In a statement, AAP said Kejriwal will speak less from now on during the protest as his health has deteriorated since Monday.
