Hazare told mediapersons on Tuesday that he was upset with the way the Aam Aadmi Party has been using his name to campaign for the Delhi elections. He said it is wrong on Kejriwal’s part to say that he will introduce ‘Anna’s Jan Lokpal Bill’ when he comes to power.
‘Arvind Kejriwal said that he will bring Anna’s Jan Lokpal Bill on December 29. I am against this. They cannot associate my name with their campaign. This is wrong. The Jan Lokpal Bill has to come in Parliament, what will the Assembly do on it,’ Anna said on Tuesday.
‘We are not enemies of each other. Even today I am happy that he is a man of character... The issue is not of funds. Some delegations told me that SIM cards were issued in my name during the India Against Corruption (IAC) movement, the sale of which led to collection of funds,’ Anna Hazare told reporters in his village Ralengan Siddhi in Maharashtra.
‘I have no connection in this regard but if somebody files a case then I may be made an accused. This is what I am worried about that without having any connection to it, my name could be dragged,’ Hazare added.
Kejriwal has already received a notice from Delhi assembly secretariat for breach of privilege for saying that if voted to power in Delhi, his party would hold an open session at Ramlila Maidan to pass Anna’s Jan Lokpal Bill.
Hazare also countered the claim by Kejriwal that the social reformer wrote the letter as he was misled. ‘It’s wrong to say that someone misled me and so I wrote the letter. I thought that my name could be misused and so I wrote a letter. I have always said that I will not campaign for any political party,’ Anna said. Anna Hazare had written to Kejriwal seeking an explanation on the party’s funding and asking why his name was being used by AAP.
Meanwhile, Kejriwal termed the incident as BJP’s ‘set up’ and said he was not in fight with the man, who was a misguided youth.
‘We are not in fight with the youth, he was a misguided youth. We are in fight against those who are behind this 2G, coalgate, iron ore scams. It was all set up by the BJP,’ he alleged.
