Andhra CM condemns TRS leader’s remarks against PM, Sonia

Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Tuesday condemned Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) leader K Chandrasekhara Rao’s ‘disgraceful’ remarks against Congress leaders and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

Addressing a news conference on Tuesday evening, he said the Congress party can’t tolerate such ‘disgraceful remarks’.

‘Mind your language. Your are not such a great leader to talk against Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi or Manmohan Singh. You are a sub-regional party. Don’t forget your place,’ he told the TRS chief. KCR, as Rao is popularly known, had allegedly made offensive remarks against the national leaders at a public meeting in Hyderabad Monday to protest the delay in formation of separate Telangana state.

‘It is unbecoming of a leader to make such comments. We are pained. Telugu people are hanging their head in shame. These remarks show your culture,’ said the chief minister who was flanked by Deputy Chief Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha and other ministers from Telangana.

Asked about the case booked against the TRS leader in Guntur, Kiran Kumar Reddy said the government had nothing to do with it and law would take its own course.

The chief minister said Telangana was a sensitive issue and the central government had sought more time to find a solution but it was not proper to make such remarks over the delay.
