Ananthasubramanian elected ICSI President, Vaid Vice-President

S N Ananthasubramanian, fellow member of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI), has been elected president of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) Council with effect from 19 January, 2013. Harish K Vaid, also an ICSI fellow member, has been elected Council vice- president.
Ananthasubramanian served as vice-president of the ICSI Council in 2012. A commerce graduate, he has been a practising company secretary at Thane since 1991, From 1976 to 1991, he was employed with different organisations. He has been a member of the ICSI Council since 2007, having been re-elected in 2010 for the term 2011-2014.
Vaid is senior president (corporate affairs) and company secretary of Jaiprakash Associates Ltd, the flagship company of the Jaypee Group. He is a life member of the Indian Law Institute, All India Management Association and fellow member of the Institute of Administrative Management. He also served with the Union government for seven years.
It was primarily due to the initiatives taken by Ananthasubramanian that the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), the country's central bank, introduced in 2008 the Diligence Report to be obtained by banks in respect of multiple-banking arrangements from professionals, preferably practising company secretaries. He has also been actively associated with formulation of compliance certificates for companies seeking listing on the SME platform of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and National Stock Exchange of India (NSE), introduction of net worth certificates by PCS in respect of broking firms by BSE and NSE, formulation of IPO/ FPO certification, tie-ups with IIM (Indore), Indian Institute of Banking and Finance (IIBF) and Insurance Institute of India (III), Mumbai.
Ananthasubramanian is also member of various committees of the ICSI Council and the Core Group for formulating ICSI-Vision 2020. As chairman of the ICSI-Centre for Corporate Governance Management Committee (Research & Training) at Navi Mumbai between 2007 and 10, Ananthasubramanian has successfully spearheaded the turnaround of the ICSI-CCGRT and its activities.
Vaid is a member of various committees on corporate laws constituted by ASSOCHAM, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and PHD Chambers of Commerce & Industry. With an illustrious academic career backed by widely acclaimed professional acumen, was chairman of the ICSI's NIRC in 1987 and has been elected to the Central Council of the Institute for six terms, including the present one.
He is a regular honorary faculty member of professional bodies/ investor protection fund set up by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs and the MSOP sessions being conducted by the Institute, its regional councils and chapters.
