Amity University suspends girl for assault complaint

Amity University has suspended a girl student for complaining of physical and sexual assault on the campus. The final year graduation student was assaulted by her classmate during a farewell party in the campus on Saturday morning, but the University put pressure on her to not report the matter to the police.

'She was punished for complaining about the incident. It’s very sad that a girl was punished for raising her voice to protest an assault on her,' said Hemant Tuli, the victim’s father told Millennium Post.

In the police complaint lodged at Sector 39 Police Station, the victim, a final year student of Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) has alleged that her classmate Akshay Raghuvanshi misbehaved and thrashed her badly in front of her friends and colleagues. 'When I complained about the incident to the  faculty they forced both of us to sit for hours and then handed over a suspension letter to me,' the victim has said in the police complaint.

The victim was allowed to sit for an examination paper, part of her final semester examinations, between 2pm to 4pm in the evening shift on Saturday. Her next test is on Tuesday.
