Amit Shah ‘unlikely’ to interact with media, NE residents

BJP President Amit Shah is “unlikely” to interact with media and local people during his trip to Sikkim on April 21. It was learnt that earlier there was a scheduled press briefing and discussions with people on several issues. But now there has been an instruction from the party headquarters to scrap the meetings. However, his schedule might change later.

“We are happy that he is coming, but the press conference is tentative and sharing of ideas with the local people seems impossible. He will make his speech and next day he will leave for Meghalaya. There will be no time for people to raise issues to strengthen the party base here in the hills,” said a
senior party leader in Gangtok.

However, Shah is likely to hold intensive discussion with the State BJP office-bearers and state party president Palden Wanchuk. “It is not possible for him to interact with the people due to time management,” party sources said. He said, “He is not going to northeastern states for media. His tour is based on development and to take our PM’s Modi achievement to them. One should not politicise the issue. His schedule might change at the last moment.”
