Amarnath Yatra resumes via Baltal route

The Amarnath yatra resumed on Monday from the shorter Baltal route after remaining suspended for the past three days due to inclement weather, CEO of Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB) PK Tripathi said.

“The Yatra via the Baltal route, which had been interrupted for the past nearly three days because of the blockage of Srinagar-Sonamarg and the Sonamarg-Neelgrath roads due to torrential rains and massive landslides, has since resumed," he said.

Meanwhile, a fresh batch of 1,342 pilgrims on Monday left for the cave shrine of Amarnath in South Kashmir Himalayas amidst tight security.

The batch comprising 909 men, 312 women, 24 children and 97 others left in a cavalcade of 38 vehicles from Bhagwati Nagar base camp here at 4.50 am, a police official said.
