Former Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh on Sunday lashed out at Rajya Sabha member Jaya Bachchan, saying he did not need a ‘broker’ to improve his relations with SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav.
‘As and when Mulayam has personally asked me for anything I have done it. Let him contradict this statement of mine, the trouble started brewing when he appointed Mrs Jaya Bachchan as middleman between him and me,’ Amar Singh who is also Rajya Sabha member told a television channel. He solely holds Jaya for causing the rift between Mulayam and him.
‘For the rapport that we shared, there was no need of a middleman, middlewoman or broker to do brokerage of relationships between us,’ he said.
Amar Singh who was once Mulayam’s trusted aide, had in 2010 parted ways with him. The relationship had ended on a bitter note. But after the two were spotted on stage together in Lucknow recently during the inauguration of a park named after former SP leader Janeshwar Mishra, speculations over a patch-up had started. However, Amar Singh before the start of the function in Lucknow had clarified: ‘I and Mulayam Singh Yadav are doing social work for a senior political leader who is not with us. To not be present at such an occasion is not good. To add political connotation to it or to look at it in political light is extremely wrong.’
