Alok Verma holds meeting with top officials

In the first Law and Order meeting held by Delhi Police Chief Alok Kumar Verma with all the senior police officials at the headquarters, Verma has emphasised on women safety and police visibility.

Verma has asked the Special CPs, Joint CPs and DCPs to ensure police visibility and interaction with people in each beat; police presence in pickets, crime-prone areas, dark spots and places of public gatherings and asked them to improve public-police relations and to meet with RWAs and MTAs more frequently.

The top cop has also asked to pay attention to the disposal of complaints and redressal of public grievances. Safety and security of women and vulnerable groups is the prime concern for the police chief. He has asked the officers to take necessary steps in order to prevent crimes against women and to ensure that every woman in Delhi feels safe. Improving intelligence gathering for taking preventive actions against hardened and known criminals was another concern for him. In the meeting he also asked to improve records of crime and criminals for quick retrieval and taking preventive action.

All the DCPs/Addl DCPs have been asked to visit at least one police station in a week to review work and records. They were also asked to ensure timely disposal of cases with quality investigation. Also, they have been asked to pay special attention for prevention and detection of property-related crimes.
