In a clear indication of the Delhi Assembly elections by the end of the year, Delhi BJP has promised to regularise all the unauthorised colonies in the city in the next three and half months. The party also claims to convince union urban development minister Venkaiah Naidu to direct all the government agencies in the city to launch ‘Better Delhi Campaign’ with a time frame of 30 September.
‘Our plan is to regularise all the unauthorised colonies in the city, the residents of whom were cheated by the Congress since last many years,’ said Satish Upadhayay, Delhi BJP president.
‘All the existing unauthorised colonies till date will be regularised. We have convinced the ministery to raise the cut off date from 2007 to 2014,’ he added. The decision was taken in a high level meeting by Union Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu attended by head of various government agencies in Delhi, MCDs, and seven MPs of city including Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan. The concerned departments would present a ‘draft plan’ to regularise all the unauthorised colonies within 15 days and regularise them in one go in the next three months.
The MCD representatives also demanded the government to hand it over the development works of unauthorised colonies and also provide some relaxation in norms for fast development like decreasing the road width from 6 meter to 4 meter in certain areas.
In the ‘Better Delhi Campaign’ the government agencies will present a complete land mapping of Delhi by 30 September so that the public services like parking, schools, hospitals, women hostels, land for public conveniences may be marked and works could be started.
Naidu also directed all the related officers that by the 30 September land for sanitary land field must be earmarked and modernization work for waste management may be started besides production of power from garbage. The BJP MPs also pressed to exempt map sanction criterion up to 200 sqm land.
