Union minister Jyotiraditya Scindia on Thursday said if Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi leads the country there would be development of all sections of the society.
‘I believe and have full faith and hope, that if Rahul Gandhi leads the country then it will benefit all sections of the country as he (Rahul), unlike others, always thinks about the nation and for the poor and development,’ Scindia said at a press conference here.
Scindia said this while replying to a question on whether Gandhi should be projected as the prime ministerial candidate for the Congress in 2014 Lok Sabha polls.
Refuting BJP’s allegation that by appointing him as Madhya Pradesh’s election campaign committee chief, Congress has done injustice to the state party unit president Kantilal Bhuria, who is a tribal, Scindia retorted by asking why the BJP has not appointed former Union minister Faggan Singh Kulaste as the party president in the state.
To prove his point, he listed the names of several tribal leaders who were given important posts in government and positions in the party.
Scindia said the BJP wanted to engineer differences between him and Bhuria as it always believed in ‘divisive politics, unlike Congress which always unites people’.
He described himself and Bhuria as ‘the two sides of the same coin.’
Assembly elections in MP are slated around year end.
