According to the police, Jashvini and Pooja, while interacting with the public under a policing scheme at the Lal Bagh area of Adarsh Nagar and got to know that a man had kidnapped a woman at gunpoint.

Following the directions given by the locals, they reached the particular street where they found Sunil holding the woman captive at gunpoint. He threatened that he would shoot them both dead if anyone tried to intervene.

“As the per the woman’s statement, she had filed a complaint with the local police regarding the same man who had tried to molest her,” said Vijay Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Police (North-west).

The self defence training came handy to the women cops when one of them disarmed Sunil of his country-made pistol while the other cop overpowered him, police said.

“In a bid to save himself, he freed himself from the clutches of the two women cops but was overpowered. However, he swallowed some aluminium phosphide tablets and was rushed to a nearby hospital where he is undergoing treatment,” said the official.
