Albanian woman found dead in Greater Kailash-I hotel

A foreign national was found dead in posh Greater Kailash area of south-east Delhi on Friday. She allegedly committed suicide, by hanging herself by the ceiling fan, in a well-known hotel in Pamposh Enclave. It is assumed that the victim was in her late 20s.
The woman was from Albania, and cops have refused to reveal her identity as of now. Her body was found in Hotel Te-New Delhi, located in A-3, Pamposh Enclave, Greater Kailash-1.
A police official said the woman had checked-in the hotel on 29 October and submitted a copy of her passport to the authorities.
Sometimes, she would go out but return to the hotel within a fewhours. On 1 November, she went out of the hotel and informed the staff that she will return after a few days. She only had a a small bag with her at the time.
‘On Friday, around 2.30 pm, she returned along with two guests. She seemed very stressed. Around 5 pm, she asked Richa, the receptionist, to arrange for fresh orange juice,’ a hotel staffer told police.
‘One of the staffers then took the juice to her room, but it was locked from inside.The staffer checked the records to know whether the customer has checked out,’ he said.
A police official said the staffer then immediately informed the hotel authorities, who called the police. Cops reached the crime spot and broke open the door to find the woman hanging by the ceiling fan. She was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where she was declared dead on arrival.
Police officials have taken the CCTV footage of the hotel. The hotel authorities also claimed that the woman was accompanied by one old man, who was later detained by the police.
Ajay Chaudhary, Additional Commissioner of Police (south-east), said, ‘We have taken one 67-year-old man into our custody, as he was well-known to the deceased. We are in the process of interrogating him.’
A senior police official said, ‘it is too early to conclude anything regarding her mysterious death. Her body has been taken to AIIMS for post-mortem. The autopsy will reveal the real reason of her death.
Prima facie, it appears to be a suicide. But there is a possibility that she was murdered and then hung by the fan.’
